Description: 

Designing mechanical/electro-mechanical components and assemblies that meet product requirements. Develops and validates test methods that address design requirements. Analyzes and diagnoses complex systems, optimizes system performance, or corrects system issues. Participates and supports in verification effort. 

Responsibilities:

  • Models physical systems including pneumatic sensors and actuators
  • Works with pneumatic or hydraulic components and systems
  • Use modeling, hardware-in-the-loop simulation and actual devices to develop, debug and test systems to meet required performance
  • Performs risk analyses using FMEA and fault tree methods. Work with other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, and Software) to develop, implement, and verify system solutions for life support devices
  • Evaluates product performance on an on-going basis and initiate and evaluate required changes to the design to improve and optimize performance
  • Maintains accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and processes
  • Provides engineering and technical support of products introduced into both the domestic and international markets as well as physician in-service programs
  • Oversees outside vendors and consultants as required
  • Works with manufacturing, sales and marketing, and quality assurance staff to coordinate pilot production of our new products

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years of design engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience with developing and optimizing performance of Pharmaceuticals or medical devices from Concept through Launch; experience with pneumatic or hydraulic components and systems is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques for experimental design and data analyses
  • Strong design control and documentation skills
  • Good technical documentation skills including drawings, assemblies, BOMs, component specifications.
  • Proficient computer skills with applicable software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Power Point, etc.) and test data analysis packages (Minitab)
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to learn new technologies
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
